Did Vocando call you?

Vocando is a virtual assistant that phones restaurants to book a table for a real customer who chose your place. We're starting in Milan. If you'd rather not be called, just say so or write to us.

  • No commission
  • Short calls
  • Never during service
  • No audio recorded
Vocando · virtual assistanton behalf of a customer
«Buonasera, parlo con [nome del locale]? Sono Vocando, un assistente virtuale, e chiamo per conto di [nome e cognome del cliente]. Vorrei prenotare un tavolo per [persone], [giorno] alle [ora]: avete posto?»
«Se preferisce non ricevere chiamate automatiche, me lo dica pure.»
How the call sounds. We always call in Italian: «Good evening, is this [restaurant]? I'm Vocando, a virtual assistant, calling on behalf of [name]. I'd like to book a table for [number], [day] at [time]: do you have room?» At the end of the first call: «If you'd rather not get automated calls, just let me know.»

Why we call you

A customer wants to book with you. They use Vocando because they can't or don't want to phone, for example because they don't speak Italian well. For you, it's a booking like any other, with the customer's name and number.

Who we are

Vocando is an independent project from Milan, still in development. People will choose the place, day and times in an app; we'll phone and book in their name. We're not a booking platform and we charge restaurants nothing.

Which number we call from

The number we call from will be listed here before our first call. It can't be called back. For the booking, use the customer's number, which the assistant gives you. To reach us, see the contacts below.

Our rules

Ten rules for every call.

  1. We say we're a virtual assistant in the first sentence, always on behalf of a named person.
  2. Short calls: usually under a minute and a half, never over three minutes.
  3. Never during service, except to tell you about a cancellation.
  4. Few questions: three at most, asked in one sentence.
  5. Never two calls at once, and only a few a day: the limit covers all our customers together.
  6. Never book-then-cancel. We only accept times the customer has already chosen.
  7. If the customer can't come, we call to free the table.
  8. No payment details, ever. For a deposit, you agree it with the customer.
  9. If you ask us to stop calling, we stop. For good, for all our customers.
  10. We don't record audio. The transcript is used to check the booking and deleted after 30 days.

Tell us when to call.

Prefer calls at certain times? Write to us with the times that suit you: we'll only call then.

How to stop the calls

  1. Tell us during the call: it applies straight away.
  2. Write to ristoratori@vocando.ai: we block the number within one working day and reply to you.

Send us the restaurant's name and street: we reply within one working day.

Restaurants' questions

What does it cost me?

Nothing. No commission, and we sell nothing to restaurants.

Is the booking real?

Yes: the customer chose your place in the app and verified their number, which we give you. If something seems wrong, write to us.

Where did you get my number?

It's the restaurant's public number, from open sources. We only call restaurants, and if you ask us not to, we stop.

Can I talk to a person?

Yes, at the contacts below. On the phone, it's only the assistant.

Is this allowed?

We always say we're a virtual assistant in the first sentence, and we only call on behalf of a named person.

A problem?

A no-show, or a booking that looks fake? Write to ristoratori@vocando.ai. We reply within one working day.
